Kathmandu — On the occasion of World Autism Awareness Day, April-2, the Ministry of Education, Science, and Technology (MoEST) has unveiled an ambitious plan to establish one autism-based model school in each of Nepal’s seven provinces.

The announcement was made during a special program chaired by the Minister for Education, in the presence of the Minister for Health and Population. The initiative, introduced under the theme "Autism and Humanity " Every Life is Valuable" aims to expand access to specialized education and supportive care for children on the autism spectrum.

According to officials, the model schools will focus on inclusive learning environments, trained professionals, and tailored educational approaches to better address the needs of children with autism. The move is expected to significantly strengthen Nepal's capacity to provide quality, accessible education for differently-abled students.

The government believes this step will help bridge long-standing gaps in autism care and education, while promoting awareness, acceptance, and dignity for every child across the country.
