Vice-Chancellors' Conference Concludes to Enhance the Quality of Higher Education

The International Vice-Chancellors’ Conference and the 18th NEWS (North, East, West, South) Conference were successfully held on April 2–3, 2025, organized by Lumbini Buddhist University with the support of the University Grants Commission (UGC) and in collaboration with the Global University Network.

The event was graced by the presence of Prof. Dr. Dev Raj Adhikari, Chairperson of the UGC; Prof. Dr. Dhruba Kumar Gautam, Vice-Chancellor of Mid-West University; and Prof. Dr. Suvarnalal Bajracharya, Vice-Chancellor of Lumbini Buddhist University, among others. A total of 14 Vice-Chancellors and former Vice-Chancellors from Nepal and India signed a declaration pledging to promote moral leadership in higher education, ensure academic excellence through the use of technology and AI, and guarantee inclusive and accessible education.
The declaration emphasized the inclusion of Eastern philosophy and ethical principles in the curricula of all universities to develop market-oriented and ethics-based academic programs. Furthermore, the Vice-Chancellors recommended establishing new universities only based on rational mapping and forecasted human resource needs.
Over 15 research papers were presented during the conference, along with high-level panel discussions and symposiums. During the inaugural session, Prof. Dr. Dev Raj Adhikari underlined the need for innovation and collaboration in higher education.
A two-day conference was attended by 200 experts and scholars from Nepal, Cambodia, China, Germany, India, Japan, Laos, Myanmar, Sri Lanka, Thailand, and Vietnam. ( https://www.mu.edu.np/vice-chancellors-conference.../ )
